I’m really missing my old M3 right now.
There was something so right about the E36 model. It managed to combine good proportions, elegant styling and great handling. Somehow it just looks lean and ready to drive. The newer M3s might be better in many ways, but they are also heavier, quieter and smoother.
Every time one passes me on the freeway, I start to plot and plan a way to get back into one.
My European petrol head tells me that it isn’t a real M3, it’s just a 332i but who cares? that lovely wide power band makes for a fantastically easy driving experience and that chassis is so rewarding and the steering so precise it makes the car easy to place and it puts a smile on your face at every single corner (and yes they do exist over here in the US – try the Marin headlands if you doubt it!).
I want another…. I will have another….
